Runners battle hilly conditions in race at Magherafelt
It certainly wasn’t an event that would produce fast times as there was a steep one mile climb to greet the athletes early on.
It was however a successful evening for the Ballymena based group with 4 of their male athletes finishing in the top eight.

Hide AdThe ever improving Vernon Shiels took the climb in his stride as he claimed 3rd place in a personal best time of 17mins 22secs. Talented beginner John Miskimmin who took up running 12 weeks ago was 4th also recording a personal best of 17mins 57secs.
Conor Shiels claimed 5th in 18mins 2 secs while Colin Apperley was 8th in 18mins 30 secs.
Also in action was Sharon Leetch of Ballymena Runners who has been training with Fit N Running over the last 3 weeks.
She produced a fine performance to finish 1st in the female open.
BEGINNERS’ COURSE

Hide AdFit N Running have an 8 week beginners class starting on Monday 16th May 2016 at 730pm.
The course will teach proper running technique, warm up and cool down routines using a range of modern training and strength/conditioning methods.
It is suitable for all ages and designed to take participants from scratch to 30 minutes running over the 8 weeks.
SPEED DEVELOPMENT COURSE
Also planned to start on Wednesday 18th May 2016 at 730pm is an 8 week speed development course.
