Cod Ladies face a new season with new kit
The team showed off their new colours on the pitch at home to Cook last week, but despite being soundly beaten, Kelly Holmes Captain says the team is up-beat and looking forward to a challenging but rewarding new season. The new kit was sponsored by Workhouse and Donnelly & Taggart in the main with fundraising locally.
The ladies will be fundraising again on Saturday night next at Bready Cricket Club, when they will be supporting three of the team in a Strictly Come Dancing event, competing with the ladies from Ardmore Ladies Gaelic team and Piorians Hockey Team. The team will be rooting for participants Carla McGregor, Charlene Rodgers, Ruagin Doherty, Claire Magill.

Reflecting on Sunday’s clash against Cooke RSC, at home, Kelly said: “It was not an easy game. The team was pitted against a squad with 12 Ulster players and three Ireland squad players. That said, it was good experience. We needed to go in head first to see how they handled it and while we failed to score it was a very valuable game.
“When we first started out eight years ago during the whole first season we never won a game. The next year we came back with a bang and the following year came top of our division, which was fantastic. So Cooke was a great experience; we have a lot of work to do this season, but we will get there,” she said thanking the coaches, sponsors, president, players and families for their support.
