The hosts made the stronger start moving into an early 5-1 lead after 3 ends. Counts of 2 and 1 to the visitors saw the Mid Antrim four holding a slender 1 shot lead at 5 ends. By 9 ends it was the Northern rink who held the one shot advantage at 7-6.
Both rinks entered the last end with the outcome of the match still in the balance and when Joyce ditched the jack to lay 4 shots and with it the game, it looked as though the hosts had just done enough for victory.
However, B Murray won the game for Northern by drawing superbly to “the line” to secure an 8-6 game win and overall victory to Northern by 49-46.
