Late birdie earns McCormick victory in Galgorm Castle competition
After three in Division 1 Sean McCormick (3), Norman Reid (5) and Steven Penney (Scr) were two points behind the leader Keith Barkley (5).
Barkley continued to lead and was one point ahead of Reid over Beechers with McCormick and Penney close up a further point behind. Reid drew level with Barkley at the Grove with a par to Barkley’s bogey. McCormick (par) and Penney (par) were two points behind. McCormicki gained a point on the leaders at the Lowlands with Penney another point behind.

Hide AdIn a very close finish Reid and Barkley parred the last and were joined by McCormick with a birdie and with a better last three first place went to McCormick with Reid second with a better last six. Penney birdied the last to finish a point behind the placings to take the Gross.
In Division 2 after the Maple Andy Moore (6) was one point ahead of Andrew McLarnon (7) and Richard Lennox (7). Christopher Djorjani (6) and Bernie Frayne (9) were another point behind. Approaching the penultimate tee McLarnon had drawn level with Moore to lead by two points from Frayne who in turn was a point ahead of Djorjani and Richard Lennox. McLarnon lost his chance of victory when he ‘dinged’ the last after a par at the Lowlands. This left the way open for Moore who duly obliged with a par, bogey finish to win by one point.
James McKay (13) set the early pace after opening with four pars in Division 3 to lead by two points from Trevor Galloway (10). Another two points behind came Eric Boyce (11), Des Cousley (9) and Malcolm Sharpe (10) followed by Denis McCarroll (10) a point away. Galloway led momentarily through Beechers but McKay parred the Grove to regain the lead by one point from Galloway who was a point ahead of Boyce. Cousley and Sharpe were another two points away with McCarroll a further point behind. McKay finished double bogey, par to win by three points from T.Galloway (bogey, double bogey).
FRONT NINE
Neville Neill (4) and John McClintock (8) were level through The Maple. Both players parred the next to stay level. McClintolck moved a point ahead down Broadmeadows with a par to a bogey from Neill. McClintock stayed ahead over the next two holes and at the last Neill drew level with a par to McClintock’s double bogey. With a better last three Neill emerged the winner.

Hide AdWith two weeks remaining Owen Smith leads Division 1 by a point from Gary McWilliams followed by Billy Cull and Daniel Reilly another point behind. A further 1½ down come Raymond Ardis, Joel McNeilly, Thomas McNeill and David Halliday. Andy Moore, Sean McCormick and David Stirling occupy ninth – eleventh places another ½ point behind. The first three in Division 2 are Richard Lennox, Lewis Surgenor and Raymond Steele. They are level on points, a ½ point ahead of Jackson Minford and Colin Thompson.
