VC hero Rifleman Quigg statue for ‘Whitepark Road’ in Bushmills
It has now emerged that the suggested location for the statue of Rifleman Robert Quigg, who was born at Carnkirk in 1885, is on the Whitepark Road in Bushmills.
However, Moyle Ulster Unionist councillor Joan Baird said the location is close to a busy corner bringing traffic from the Giant’s Causeway and she said a guard-rail would need to installed to aid safety.

Hide AdCouncil official Aidan McPeake said a covenant would be needed from the McNaghten Estate but DUP councillor Robert McIlroy said he didn’t see that being a problem as Sergeant Quigg had gone out onto the battlefield to try to find Lieutenant Harry McNaghten.
On the proposal of Cllr McIlroy, seconded by Cllr Sharon McKillop (Traditional Unionist Voice), the Council agreed to support, in principle, the developments.
