Police warn public after spate of copper thefts
There has been a series of raids on properties, especially unoccupied dwellings, and now police are warning house owners to take steps to thwart the metal men.
In one of the latest raids, reported to police at 7.30pm on August 18, an unoccupied house at Gracehill Road near Armoy was entered and stripped of copper, sinks and door handles.

A police spokesman said: “We are appealing to anyone who owns property that is unoccupied or under construction to ensure they have reasonable security measures as copper thefts of that nature are quite common through the north west and north Antrim.”
And at 5.55pm on August 24 police received a report of copper pipes, a hot water tank and a wood burning stove being stolen from an unoccupied house at Ballycormick Park, Ballymoney.
