‘No compulsory job cuts as a result of council merger’
Responding to concerns that jobs could be at risk in the lead up to the formation the new super council, officials at Mossley Mill have given an assurance that the Antrim and Newtownabbey Statutory Transition Committee is “committed to a policy of no compulsory redundancies.”
While some jobs have been designated ‘at risk’ - those that may be replicated when the two local authorities merge - and some members of staff may have to compete for their existing roles, council officials have stressed that safeguards are in place to ensure no compulsory lay-offs.
