Magherafelt loses World Record title to Hamburg for most people forming Olympic Rings
Clinched by Magherafelt District Council when 3,206 children from schools across the area turned out to form the famous rings in honour of the 2012 London Olympics, the title has now been claimed by model railway park Miniatur Wunderland.
The Hamburg attraction managed to gather almost double the number of people in Magherafelt with 6,211 participants turning out to support the city’s bid to host the 2024 Olympic Games.

Hide AdThe event which was held at Stadtpark, a large urban park in the Hamburg district of Winterhude, saw thousands dressed in blue, yellow, black, green and red form the five rings - a symbol representing the union of five continents.
