Licence was out of date

Only when he was stopped by police for using a mobile phone while driving did a man realise his licence was out of date.

Ross Robinson (51), Cushenny Road, Portadown, admitted two offences at Craigavon Magistrates Court last Friday.

He was fined £150 and given three points for using a mobile phone while driving on July 23 this year. A fine of £90 was imposed for not having a licence.

He was seen using the phone while driving a van on the Garvaghy Road in Portadown. On August 8 he attended at the police station and produced his insurance but it was discovered his licence had expired on February 9 last year. Robinson, who represented himself, said the licence had now been renewed.
