Glens of Antrim Society Golden Jubilee Gala Dinner
The Guest Speaker for the night was Rev, Dr. John Dunlop, CBE, former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, and well known throughout the Province and further afield for his ecumenical and peace-promoting endeavours and for his role as a member of the three-man Independent Review Committee which laid the foundations of the Parades Commission in Northern Ireland.
Among the distinguished guests present were the Mayor of the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Michelle Knight-McQuillan and her husband, Gary; honorary members Dr. Godfrey Brown, Frank Connolly and Seamus McKillop; John Hulme and members of the Federation of Ulster Local Studies; Bill McAfee and Alec Blair.

Hide AdThe Society also received a congratulatory card from the Kintyre Antiquarian and Natural History Society.
After dinner, the 100 plus guests were entertained by Dr. Catherine Kane (née Brennan) with a selection of songs: ‘The Green Glens of Antrim’, ‘Mull of Kintyre’ and ‘Golden Jubilee’
Well-known artist, the Honourable Hector McDonnell, then launched the Society’s latest publication, Green Glens and Golden Memories, a book celebrating fifty years of life in the Glens of Antrim.
All present expressed their pleasure at a memorable evening’s entertainment.
