Time to vote for your Heart Hero nominees
They have revealed details of two Ballymena nominees for the awards which recognise and celebrate the heart research charity’s supporters, fundraisers, volunteers and patients who have made an exceptional contribution to the fight against heart disease. Local people nominated are:
The Ballymena Tesco charity team for their fundraising efforts and new ideas to raise funds for the Tesco National Charity Partnership (which raises money for the BHF and Diabetes UK). They meet up each month to plan fundraising events and always get the local community and customers taking part in fundraising events and activities.

But when this little hero isn’t in hospital, it doesn’t stop him from raising over £2,000 doing a variety of fundraising, for BHF NI and other charities. Mark’s been through a lot but he inspires everyone he meets at school and in hospitals, and has made some amazing friends along the way.
Jayne Murray, Head of British Heart Foundation Northern Ireland, said: “The amazing Ballymena nominees are perfect examples of the extraordinary contribution made by people living with heart disease and their families as well as the people raising money for us to carry out lifesaving heart research.
“We are proud to be recognising their efforts in our annual Heart Hero Awards and we wish them all the best of luck for the final ceremony,” said Jayne.
